Our Story
Our facility was founded in 2006 by Genesis Development, a non-profit that provided human services for people with physical and mental disabilities.
Sean, Chad and Justin Mandelbaum acquired the facility in 2021, and have maintained the original mission of providing meaningful employment for our disabled staff. The Mandelbaum family has been invested in Des Moines since Julius established Mandelbaum’s dry goods store in 1864, and in Indianola since 1996.
Today, Genesis Linen Services provides best-in-class linen laundering for some of Central Iowa’s largest and most well-known hospitality and health care facilities.
Health & Hygiene
As a healthcare linen service provider, Genesis adheres to CDC and The Joint Commission infection control protocols for our facility, personnel and customer product.
We are an essential business, and these protocols allowed us to maintain continuous operations throughout the pandemic, without interruption or any cases of COVID-19 at our facility.

Executive Team
Hysen Hoxhalli, CLLM
General Manager
CLLM-certified with 10 years of experience in the textile management business and over 20 years of military and engineering experience including positions with NATO in Brussels, Hysen oversees all aspects of the operation.
Sean Mandelbaum
Chief Executive Officer
Sean has over 20 years of private equity, corporate finance and real estate development experience. Sean holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and undergraduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.
